Loose Praxis picks, not a fresh box
These are the individual picks that make up the Dangerfield Praxis set, available on their own. If you have bent a hook on a stubborn lock, snapped a tip, or simply pick with one profile so much that it shows the miles, this is how you top it up. It is also a tidy way to build out a custom roll: add only the hooks and rakes you actually reach for.
Each pick is a single tool for pin tumbler locks. A hook sets pins one at a time for precise single-pin picking. A rake runs across the pins quickly to find an opening through movement. Pick your profile, pick your thickness, and you are set.
The profiles in the dropdown
Every profile comes in two gauges. The thinner 0.015 in blade slips into tight, crowded keyways and gives you delicate feedback. The thicker 0.023 in blade is stiffer and better suited to blunter, looser locks where a thin pick would flex.
Tension first, then the right profile
Apply light turning pressure with a tension wrench in the bottom of the keyway, then bring the pick in above it. With a hook, feel for the pin that is binding and lift it gently until it sets, then move to the next. With a rake, scrub or rock the pick in and out under light tension and let the bumps bounce the pins toward the shear line.
Light hands win. Too much tension and the pins jam. Too little and nothing holds. Find the balance on a known lock first, then carry the feel to harder cylinders.
Only pick locks you own or have clear permission to open, and check your local law before you practise.
