Pick and Decode Compatible 8-Pin Tubular Locks
This SouthOrd tubular pick is built for compatible 8-pin tubular locks where normal hooks and tension tools cannot reach the pin stack cleanly. The adjustable feelers map around the circular keyway, and the decoder key helps read the setting after a successful open. Specialist fit, fast work, no universal claims.

For tubular locks with an 8-pin layout
Locksport benches
Practice circular pin stacks without trying to force normal pin tumbler techniques into the wrong lock format.
Locksmith kits
Carry an 8-pin tubular option for compatible coin-op, equipment, cabinet, and specialty locks.
Decoder work
Use the included decoder key after a successful pick to read the position of the feelers.
A purpose-built shape for a circular keyway
Tubular locks arrange pins around a circle. This tool puts adjustable feelers around that same circle, letting you work the pin stack in the format the lock expects.
Let the lock set the feelers
Insert the pick into the tubular keyway, apply controlled turning pressure, and work the feelers against the pins. As the lock opens, the feelers reflect the pin-depth pattern, which is why the decoder key matters.
The tool does not replace lock knowledge. It gives you the right geometry for an 8-pin tubular mechanism.
Count the pins before choosing the pick
Do not buy the 8-pin version for a 7-pin or 10-pin lock. Tubular picks are layout-specific, and the wrong count puts the feelers in the wrong places.
- Use for compatible 8-pin tubular locks.
- Choose the 10-pin SouthOrd model for compatible 10-pin locks.
- Expect practice. Tubular tools still need feel and control.

Questions buyers usually ask
Will this work on 7-pin tubular locks?
No. Buy a 7-pin tubular pick for compatible 7-pin locks. This listing is for compatible 8-pin layouts.
Will this work on 10-pin tubular locks?
No. SouthOrd has a separate 10-pin model for compatible 10-pin tubular locks.
What does the decoder key do?
After a successful pick, it helps read the feeler positions so the setting can be interpreted for key work.
Is this easier than normal picking?
It is the right tool shape for tubular locks, but it still requires tension control, reset discipline, and practice.
Add the 8-pin tubular option
If the lock in front of you is a compatible 8-pin tubular mechanism, this SouthOrd pick gives you the correct geometry and decoder workflow.
