Extended Top of Keyway tension wrenches that free the keyway
Tension is where every pick attempt is won or lost. This is a full 8-piece set of extended Top of Keyway wrenches in a leather case, built to give you turning tools that sit up out of the way of the pins so your pick has room to work and the plug can talk back clearly.

Turning tools that work from the top of the keyway
A tension wrench is the tool you turn the lock with while your pick sets the pins. Bottom of Keyway wrenches sit in the lower part of the keyway, where they often crowd the pins and steal the space your pick needs. Top of Keyway, or TOK, wrenching moves the turning tool to the upper part of the keyway instead. That frees the bottom of the lock so your pick can reach every pin, and so you can feel each one bind and set without a wrench blocking the way.
To use one, slide the short bent end into the top of the keyway, rest your finger lightly on the long arm, and apply gentle rotational pressure in the direction the key would turn. Then pick as normal. The extended arm on these wrenches gives you a longer lever and a softer, more readable touch, so it is easier to hold light, steady tension while you read what the plug is doing.

Eight profiles so the wrench fits the keyway, not the other way round
No two keyways are the same width or shape, and one stiff wrench cannot suit them all. With eight TOK profiles you can match the wrench to the lock in front of you, find the one that seats cleanly, and choose the lever length that suits your hand. The right fit means the wrench stays put under light pressure instead of slipping or pushing your pick off the pins.
Different profiles also let you dial in the amount of feedback you want. A thinner, lighter wrench reads subtle binding on tricky security pins, while a firmer one holds tension on a stubborn plug. Building that range into one case is what turns guesswork into a repeatable, feel-led routine.
Get the tension right and the picking gets easier
TOK wrenching is the technique most pickers move to once a single bottom-of-keyway wrench starts feeling like it is in the way. The motion is straightforward, but light, steady hands are what make it sing, so take your time on locks you know first.
Built around real picking feel
Top of Keyway by design
Sits up out of the pins so your pick has full access to every stack, which is the whole reason pickers move to TOK.
Extended levers
The longer arm gives finer, more readable control of tension, so light pressure stays light and steady.
Eight to choose from
Match the wrench to the keyway and your hand instead of forcing one shape into every lock.
Leather case
Keeps the set together and protected between sessions and rolls up to travel with your picks.

Quick answers from the LockPickWorld bench
What is Top of Keyway tension?
It means turning the lock with a wrench that sits in the upper part of the keyway instead of the lower part. It frees the bottom of the keyway so your pick can reach the pins without the wrench in the way.
Why eight wrenches?
Keyways vary in width and shape, and your hands have preferences too. Eight profiles let you fit the wrench to the lock and pick the lever length and feedback that suit the job.
Is TOK harder than bottom of keyway?
Not really, just different. Many pickers find it easier once they try it, because the pick gets more room. Start on a familiar lock, keep your tension light, and the feel comes quickly.
What pick do I use with these?
Any standard hook or rake set works. If you want a complete kit, the Praxis or Serenity picks pair naturally, and practice locks make learning the tension fast.
Lock picking is a hobby, sport, and trade skill. Only pick locks you own or have clear permission to open, and check your local law before practising.
Give your pick the room it has been missing
Tension is the half of lock picking most kits ignore. With eight extended Top of Keyway wrenches and a leather case, you can match the turning tool to the lock, hold a light steady touch, and let the plug tell you when you have it.
