Pull snapped keys out of locks, machinery and car doors
Keys do not only break in front doors. They snap in padlocks, cabinet locks, machinery and vehicle locks too, and once a fragment is stuck the whole thing seizes up. These broken key extractor and removal tools grip the trapped piece and pull it free, so you can clear the lock and get moving again without drilling or replacing the cylinder. The eight-piece set gives you a range of tips for different keyways and break depths.

Catch the blade, ease it out
Each tool is a slim shaft with a hooked or barbed tip. Slide it into the keyway beside the snapped piece, let the barb settle into a cut on the blade, and draw the fragment back out. Different tips help on different keyways and break depths, so you can match the tool to the job in front of you.
Steady hands win here. Line up the barb, take light pulls, and let the fragment come to you.
One small kit, a lot of stuck keys

Quick answers from the LockPickWorld bench
Can it really get a key out of a car door?
Yes, on standard wafer and pin cylinders where the fragment is reachable. As with any lock, the result depends on how deep the break sits and the keyway shape.
Do I need any skill to use it?
No special technique. Line the barb up with a cut on the blade, pull gently and patiently, and let the fragment ease out rather than forcing it.
Will it damage the lock?
Used gently it clears the key without harming the cylinder, which is the whole point: you avoid drilling and keep the lock in service.
What if I can barely see the key?
A flush or recessed break is still workable. Pick the slimmest tip that fits the keyway and take your time finding a cut to grip.
The cheapest insurance against a dead lock
A snapped key turns a quick errand into a real problem. Keep these removal tools to hand and you can clear the lock yourself instead of waiting on a locksmith.
