Residential Lishi tools

Choose by keyway first: Schlage, Kwikset, Yale, or AM5

A Lishi residential lock pick is a keyway-specific 2-in-1 pick and decoder for pin tumbler cylinders. These tools are not universal picks: they work best when the tool, keyway profile, and pin count match the lock in front of you.

  • Schlage: SC1, SC4, and SC20 tools for common Schlage residential and Classic C profiles.
  • Kwikset: KW1 and KW5 tools for common 5-pin and 6-pin Kwikset keyways.
  • Yale-style rim and Euro: Lishi-style picks for compatible 5-pin and 6-pin Yale profiles.
  • American Lock AM5: a 2-in-1 pick and decoder for compatible AM3, AM5, and AM7 padlock keyways.

New to guided picking? Pair the correct keyway tool with the Beginners Visual Guide to build pin feedback, tension control, and decoding confidence.

Residential Lishi FAQ

Which residential Lishi should I buy first?

Buy the tool that matches the lock's keyway. In the US, common residential choices include Schlage SC1, SC4, and SC20 plus Kwikset KW1 and KW5. Yale-style rim and Euro tools are for compatible Yale profiles, and AM5 is for compatible American Lock padlock keyways.

Is a Lishi pick universal?

No. A Lishi 2-in-1 pick and decoder is cut for a specific keyway profile. A Schlage SC1 tool is not a Kwikset KW1 tool, and a Yale-style rim cylinder tool is not a Euro cylinder tool. Match the profile before adding to cart.

What is the difference between SC1, SC4, and SC20?

They are separate Schlage-family profiles. SC1 is a common 5-pin residential route, SC4 is a 6-pin Schlage route, and SC20 is a separate 6-pin Schlage Classic C option. Choose the exact tool that matches the lock or practice cylinder you plan to work on.

Should I choose KW1 or KW5 for Kwikset?

KW1 is the common 5-pin Kwikset keyway. KW5 is the 6-pin Kwikset option. Match the keyway and pin count on the cylinder; do not choose by brand name alone.

Do these tools decode as well as pick?

Yes. A 2-in-1 Lishi-style tool combines guided picking with a decoder grid. After the plug turns, the grid helps read pin depths for the matching keyway profile.

Why add the Beginners Visual Guide?

The Beginners Visual Guide helps new pickers understand pin states, tension, feedback, and what the tool is showing you. It pairs well with Lishi practice because the visual grid makes the learning loop clearer.

Can I use these on any lock?

Use lock picks only on locks you own or have explicit permission to work on. Lishi tools are useful for training, locksmith work, and authorized lock servicing, but they should never be used on someone else's lock without permission.
